Two independent assessors. One standard.

ClearFire brings together two independent UK fire safety practices, so you always get a Level 4 qualified owner on site, never a junior or a subcontractor.

Meet the partners

The experience behind the evidence

ClearFire is the working partnership of Bonnar Fire Risk Assessments Ltd and Sheaf FRA Ltd. Jon Sheaf and Kevin Bonnar followed the same route into fire safety, spending decades on the construction side of buildings before becoming fire risk assessors.

Between them, they bring seventy years of experience across fire-rated doors and windows, curtain walling, facades and high-specification building envelopes. That experience shapes every assessment. Findings are supported by a practical understanding of how buildings are constructed, occupied and maintained.

Working together gives ClearFire greater coverage and capacity while protecting the one thing clients value most: the assessor who visits the building remains responsible for the report.

The people who walk your building.

Every ClearFire assessment is carried out, walked and signed off by Kevin or Jon themselves. You deal with the owner from the first phone call to the final report.

Kevin Bonnar
Owner · Bonnar Fire Risk Assessments Ltd
FRA Level 4 Adv. DOORS Level 3 FROM Construction YEARS 30

Thirty years in construction, fire-rated windows and doors, curtain walling and facades, now brought to fire safety. Kevin works with office managers, operations directors and warehouse owners, explaining clearly how a building can be improved and the reasoning behind it. Independent and deliberately small, he stays focused purely on fire risk assessments and fire door inspections, and can introduce reliable trades when remedial work is needed.

"We're independent, so the only thing we're selling is honest advice. I'll always talk you through the key actions and the most sensible way to tackle them."

Jon Sheaf
Owner · Sheaf FRA Ltd
FRA Level 4 ABBE DOORS Level 3 FROM Construction YEARS 40

Forty years in construction, facades, fire-rated systems and high-specification building envelopes, behind every assessment. Jon helps everyone from short-term-let owners to large businesses: offices, warehouses, shops, surgeries, vets and block management companies. Clients value his clear, friendly explanations of what fire compliance actually requires. He cares, responds quickly and communicates well, with a trusted network for fire door remediation, emergency lighting, alarms and passive fire protection.

"Solid, clear advice and a workable route through fire safety compliance, and someone you're confident picking up the phone to."

The assessor stays with the job

Many fire risk assessment firms grow by adding junior assessors and subcontractors. The person carrying out the inspection is often less experienced than the person who quoted the work.

ClearFire takes a different approach.

Every assessment is delivered by Kevin or Jon personally. When the diary is full, it is full. Clients receive an owner-led site visit, a report they can act on and a turnaround measured in hours rather than weeks.

Independent proof of competence

The qualifications, registrations and professional standards behind every ClearFire assessment.

NAFDI

National Association of Fire Door Inspectors. Fire door inspection competence, so door surveys form part of the assessment, not a separate callout.

ProQual

ProQual-accredited Level 4 qualification in fire risk assessment, the regulated awarding-body standard for competent assessors.

IFSM

Institution of Fire Safety Managers. Professional membership covering the ongoing management of fire safety, not just one-off assessment.

IFE

The Institution of Fire Engineers. Membership demonstrates ongoing professional development and commitment to fire engineering standards.

DBS

Disclosure and Barring Service checked. Every partner is cleared to work on occupied and sensitive sites: schools, care settings and residential blocks.

PAS 79-1 aligned

Our methodology, not a certification: all ClearFire reports are structured to PAS 79-1:2020, the publicly available specification for fire risk assessments in non-domestic premises.

South of England coverage.

ClearFire covers six counties across the South of England. Every visit is carried out by an owner, so we keep our coverage to an area Kevin and Jon can reach and serve properly.
