The company contacted ClearFire for a fire risk assessment as part of the local council licensing process. The request required a prompt response, and Kevin carried out the survey with the urgency the client needed.
Protecting the escape route was the main priority. The electrical fuse box was located along the route to the final exit, making its separation from that route a key consideration.
The site photographs recorded the consumer unit and meter cupboard, which also housed the fire alarm panel. Close-up photographs showed openings around cables passing through the cupboard lining. These details were relevant to assessing the enclosure as a whole, rather than looking only at the visible cupboard doors.
Kevin identified the need to separate the fuse box from the escape route within a compartment providing 30 minutes of fire resistance.

Kevin recommended creating a fire-rated enclosure around the fuse box to provide the required 30-minute separation identified during his assessment of this property.
The recommendation focused on protecting the route residents would use to leave the building, by separating the higher-risk electrical installation from it.
The immediate outcome was a completed survey and a specific recommendation for remedial work. The block management company had a clear priority to take forward as part of the licensing process, with the proposed enclosure addressing the escape-route concern identified by Kevin.
The client’s feedback highlighted his responsiveness and the speed with which the survey was carried out.
“Kevin responded to our request straight away and carried out the survey with the urgency required. Very impressed with the service and will definitely use and recommend in future.”
